Lucien Favre reportedly wants to bring Marcus Thuram and Alassane Pléa to Nice in addition to Yann Sommer.
Nice Reportedly Picking Stars This Season
According to a recent news story, Yann Sommer may join OGC Nice after returning to the French Ligue 1 club by former Gladbach manager Lucien Favre.
According to a recent report in Bild, Favre is reportedly also interested in Gladbach players Alassane Pléa and Marcus Thuram in addition to Sommer. The Gladbach contracts of Sommer, Plea, and Thuram expire in 2023. Before his €23 million transfer to Borussia-Park in 2018, Plea played for Nice under Favre.
As transfer talks between the two teams continue, French writer Fabrice Hawkins claims Sommer has already come to a deal with Nice. Lucien Favre, a former head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund, just returned to Nice and is also focusing on Thuram and Pléa.
Thuram and Pléa are both entering the last year of their contracts, and as Gladbach rebuilds under Daniel Farke, they may be obliged to sell two of their highest-paid players to acquire transfer funds, or else risk losing the French pair on free transfers next summer.
Pléa played under Favre from 2016-18 for two years while Thuram (24) has a great reputation within France and is a potential teammate of Khephren Thuram.
