“His second entrance, following Remy Riou’s comeback and the renewal of Maxence Caqueret and Anthony Lopes’ contracts, demonstrates his strong desire to revitalize a new dynamic around the men’s professional squad.” Lacazette’s future has been a source of debate for months, so the news that he’ll be departing won’t come as a shock.
As his contract came to an end in April, Lacazette stated that he was in negotiations with numerous teams and suggested that he wanted to join a Champions League team. Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League last season, just missing out on a spot in the Champions League. In Ligue 1, Lyon finished seventh.
Lacazette joined Arsenal in 2017 from Lyon, where he scored 71 goals in 206 games across all competitions. He was Arsenal’s top scorer in the 2017-18 and 2020-21 seasons, and he is among the top 10 Premier League scorers in the club’s history. He was an FA Cup and Community Shield winner during his stay at the club.

Arsenal’s offense is ready for a reshuffle this summer. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left Arsenal for Barcelona in January, and now Lacazette is on his way out.
Eddie Nektia’s contract expires at the end of June, but after a successful end to the season, he is set to sign a new season at Emirates Stadium. Arsenal wants to invest in new attackers ahead of the 2022/23 season, regardless of their future. He has spoken with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen’s agent and with Manchester City’s Gabriel Magalh Jesus over a possible transfer.
