North Rhine-Cologne Westphalia is home to FC Köln, a professional football team from Germany. The organizations Kölner Ballspiel-Club 1901 and SpVgg Sülz 07 merged to become it in 1948.
Eric Martel To Fc Köln Is Imminent
After being promoted in 2018–19 from the 2. Bundesliga after being demoted the previous year, Köln now plays in the Bundesliga. The group has won the Bundesliga twice, in 1964 and in 1978, making them two-time top-flight champions. At RheinEnergieStadion, the team plays its home games.

On loan from RB Leipzig, German professional footballer Eric Martel, born on April 29, 2002, plays center defender for Austria Wien in the Austrian Bundesliga.
On December 22, 2020, Martel made his professional debut for RB Leipzig against Bundesliga team FC Augsburg in the second round of the 2020–21 DFB–Pokal. Martel replaced Dayot Upamecano in the 88th minute. The score of the road game was a 3-0 victory.
Recently, Eric Martel has officially signed with FC Köln.
The German U21 international has signed a four-year contract with FC Köln after spending the previous season on loan at Austria Wien.
Currently, Eric Martel is a member of 1. FC Köln.
The German is relocating from Leipzig to the cathedral city after spending January 2021 on loan at Wiener Austria. The 20-year-old has a contract in place there till 2026. The defensive midfielder will cost the “Billy Goats” 1.2 million euros.
After passing his medical exam on Thursday, Martel is reportedly joining for €1.2 million. The defensive midfielder played 33 games in all competitions while on loan at Austria Wien during the previous season.

Following Linton Maina, Kristian Pedersen, Denis Huseinbasic, Steffen Tigges, and the permanent signing of Luca Kilian, Martel would be Steffen Baumgart’s sixth signing of the summer.
Baumgart’s side will also be playing European football next for the first time since 2017 after they qualified for the UEFA Conference League.
The 20-year-old signed a contract with the Conference League participants through 2026. He has been with RB Leipzig since 2017 and was most recently on loan to Austria Wien.
The defensive midfielder played regularly for Austria last season under longtime Cologne assistant Manfred Schmid’s leadership; yet, he only saw action for two minutes in the DFB Cup for the RB professional squad.
Martel was a key player in the “Violetten” last season and contributed significantly to the Favoritner’s unexpected third-place finish. Leipzig made it plain right away that the “bulls” were not coordinating with him in spite of his great performance.
Previously, the kid was on the verge of joining FC Koln, a rival team in the Bundesliga, rather than Scottish Premiership giants Rangers. The highly regarded, extremely flexible Germany U21 international could have been useful at Ibrox as a defensive midfielder and center-half together.
Particularly when you take into account that the Rangers’ most significant number six, Steven Davis, will turn 38 in January. And before the summer is out, reinforcements in the heart of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s backline might be necessary due to the departure of Leon Balogun and the likely departure of Calvin Bassey.
