Real Madrid has acquired the signature of the French midfielder in a package deal worth more than 100 million dollars in totality. Aurelian has spent his last two seasons in Ligue 1 playing for AS Monaco. He was already a France international at the age of 21 and has the trust of Deschamps to play a crucial role in the squad. Under the wing of Ancelotti, Aurelian should have all the right tools to become one of the best in the world in his position.
Tochouameni started his professional club career at Bordeaux and played as number 8 for the French club. Gus Poyet who gave Tochouameni his debut for Bordeaux talks about how he was physically strong and technically intelligent he was. He goes on to praise the midfielder’s urge to continuously and consciously learn and grow even at that young age.
His father wanted to be a professional football player and thus Aurelian spent a lot of his childhood time at the local stadiums, therefore that passion for football was always in his blood. Although he started as a striker he found success and regularity in the French youth squad as a midfielder. Leadership was always one of his natural traits and he was chosen as a captain for his youth national team frequently.
Being confident is another thing that comes naturally to Aurelian. His hard work accompanied by his belief in his abilities and manifestation of the fact that he is destined for greatness is what makes him one of the brightest prospects in the market right now.
Aurelien Tchouameni Journey To Real Madrid
Everyone around him knew that he’ll be in demand by numerous European elites when the time arrives and that time arrived as early as 2018 when Inter approached for the midfielder’s signature but the deal fell off eventually. He joined the French side Monaco instead which provided him with the next stepping stone in his career. Tochouameni’s availability is one of his most praised characteristics.
He made 33 appearances out of a possible 38 for AS Monaco making him the player with the 5th highest playing minutes in Europe’s top five leagues, in the category of under-23 players. His arrival at the Bernabeu is accompanied by exceptional regular playing experience when we consider his young age of 22. He played as a double pivot at Monaco alongside fellow Frenchman, Youssouf Fofana in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Fofana plays slightly higher up the field while Aurelian plays deeper than him, providing an appropriate screening to the defense and initiating build-up plays for his team. Aurelian’s versatility is immensely impressive as he can easily provide his service as sole defensive midfield in a 4-5-1 formation and can also easily excel as a box-to-box midfielder in a 4-4-2 setup.
Under Ancelotti, he’s most probably gonna play as a lone CDM because 4-3-3 is the formation that the Italian manager deploys and trusts the most. His entire tactical layout revolves around having two interiors deployed in front of a holding midfielder.
Real Madrid’s current midfield three is a trio with the greatest of all-time tag stamped all over their career. Any midfielder who signs for real Madrid is faced with the task of replacing one of these three for a spot in the starting line-up, which by no means is possible for an average player. Toni Kroos, Luca Modric, and Casemerio have stayed on top of their game for almost a decade now and their consistency of being one of the best in the world is on par with one of the best midfielders ever.
But age comes for everyone and this trio has crept deep into their 30s closing swiftly on their time to hang up the boots. Keeping this in mind the Los Blancos have made plans for the future. Aurelian now joins his fellow Frenchman, Camavinga at Madrid to build the midfield of the future for Real.
Although Camavinga played a deputy midfield role for Real last season, Aurelian who is older and more experienced than his national teammate will have different responsibilities for him. It would be expected of him to be a starter for the La Liga champions in no time. He can play the role of both Casemiro as a holding midfielder and of Modric or Kroos as a number 8 thanks to his versatility.
Tchouameni was named in the Ligue 1 team of the year for the last campaign so there’s absolutely no doubt about his credibility or his price tag. His extremely persistent ball-winning ability and fighting spirit is one of his central characteristics. He is exceptionally good at reading the game and finding the spaces for through balls and direct passes with just the right amount of weight behind them.
Complimenting this innate attack-oriented ability he is also tremendously talented in blocking passing lanes and neutralizing opposition’s build-ups and counterattacks. He is pressing abilities are worth praising and his possession-winning and keeping qualities make him almost tailor-made for the La Casa Blanca midfield. His long legs and quick feet make him very successful in one-on-one situations.
His passing range is impressive as he picks up tips from the likes of Paul Pogba and Kevin de Bruyne by carefully analyzing their playing styles and decision-making. He can easily ping passes from one corner of the field to another and with wingers like Vinicius and Rodrigo continuously making runs in behind the opposing defense, Aurelian will enjoy the liberty of setting up runs for his teammates.
